Fantastic Felt Forms & Jewellery with Denise Lithgow

In this workshop, a progressive range of skills will be developed, so that the participants feel confident designing their own range of felt vessels and jewellery. This workshop is suitable for beginners or more experienced felters.

Topics will include; Collage and intuitive drawing as a design tool to create innovative forms and designs in felt ( no drawing skills are required)Ways to form shapes and translate these into three-dimensional shapes. Using resists to take 2D into a 3D form. Using surface decoration such as stitching into the felt surface to enhance the pieces. Creating brooches and neckpieces, using found objects to enhance the designs. Vessels will range from simple to more complex as we progress through the week.

Denise Lithgow is a Felter and Textile Artist. She exhibits her work in Australia and Internationally and her works have been selected for the biannual, World of Threads exhibition in Canada for 2014 and 2012. She says “ growing up on a sheep property in South Australia has inspired her love of working with Merino Wool.” She works with vivid colours and her inspiration come from the landscape..
