Richard Claremont

Much of his Richard’s current art practice can be traced back to his education at a Rudolf Steiner School, which placed a great emphasis on creativity and the development of the child. His colourful and energetic paintings reflect a love of shifting light, and much of his work is of the beloved coastline within walking distance from his home in Shellharbour NSW.

“Typically a painting will start with some shapes drawn quickly on the back of an envelope. With my paintings, I try not to plan too far ahead… I like the paint to tell its own story… there is something really exciting about waiting to see what’s going to happen next.”

Richard’s artwork is represented in collections both locally and internationally and he has been a finalist in many major art prizes. A practising artist for 30 years, he is a regular exhibitor in both Australia and Europe, including the Galerie Mona Lisa in Paris.
